Welcome! I’m glad you’re here.

I created this blog to share my thoughts, beliefs, and experiences in the areas of faith, family, and finances. Not necessarily in that order! It is my hope and prayer that what I share will bless all who read it and hopefully challenge you to change what you think about some of these subjects and maybe even help you change some of your behaviors for the better. There are a lot of people out there with an opinion. You’ve seen them. On Facebook, on Twitter, and yes… on Blogs. How many of these individuals have any experience in what they are writing about? I’m not sure. Maybe a lot! What makes me different? Maybe not a whole lot. But hopefully my experience and what I’ve studied throughout the years will make a difference. Even if it’s just to better myself through this experience of blogging.

FAITH- I’ve been a Christian all my life, if that’s even possible (more on that later). But I’ve had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for over 14 years. That’s 168 months. Or 5,110 days. Or 122,640 hours.

FAMILY- I have been married for over 14 years. Or 168 months. Or 5,110 days. Or 122,640 hours! I’ve been a dad for over 8 years. Or 96 months. Or 2,920 days. Or 70,080 hours. I have 3 children now (and only 1 wife). We have two boys and one girl. Ages 8, 4, and 2.

FINANCES- I have spent over 981 hour (approximately) studying personal finance in various forms. Or 58,860 minutes. Or 3,535,600 seconds. My wife and I have done a Crown Financial Bible study years ago. We’ve attended and graduated from Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class (FPU). We’ve coordinated the FPU class at our church and at my military base a total of 6 times. We’ve attended Dave Ramsey’s Counselor Training. I’ve attended the Navy’s Command Financial Specialist course (one-on-one counseling training). I’ve listened to multiple podcasts and sermons and have read several books on this subject.

Does any of that make me an expert? Hardly! I’ve heard that it takes 10,000 hours of doing or studying something to make someone an expert. That may or may not be true. Even if it is, the learning process never ends. Learning is a life long endeavor. Again, my hope and prayer is that my experience and study in these 3 areas will bless those who read these pages. Learn from my mistakes. Get a head start in any of these areas that you might need to improve on. You don’t have to learn the hard way. There are plenty of resources in this world that I believe God has made available to help us live more wisely. I am not saying I know everything. The Lord knows I’m still trying and I struggle with some of this still. But I try to better myself. And this blog will be part of that journey. Thanks for visiting and God Bless.

My name is Mark Hust. I was raised a Christian. That in and of itself doesn’t mean a whole lot I’ve learned. I never did anything crazy in my life such as drugs, alcohol, or hanging out with the “wrong” crowd. But during my teenage years I did stray away from God but not seeking Him out. By not going to church. By cussing. By rebelling in my own way. See… Not too bad right? Hum… Well, after I met my girlfriend (who’s now my wife) I started attending her church. I was baptized there. We were married in that church and two of our children were dedicated in that church. I loved that church. Although I haven’t been perfect with my walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I can honestly look back and say that I have made small, minute changes over the years for the good. And I have never turned my back on my Heavenly Father since!

Faithfulness is a long obedience in the same direction. Having something bigger than yourself can make all the difference in the world. Do you need something bigger to believe in? Then you need to be introduced to this man named Jesus. He’ll change your whole paradigm! He has for me!
